Request account and data deletion
This page explains how users of the Yara and Yara Cash mobile application can request deletion of their account and associated personal data. You can submit a request in the app or by contacting Yara Support from the email address linked to your account.
Email deletion request1. How to delete your account
The primary deletion pathway is available inside the Yara app. To request deletion:
- Open the Yara app and log in to the account you want to delete.
- Go to Settings.
- Select Delete Account.
- Enter the email address linked to your Yara account if prompted.
- Review the deletion notice and select Delete account to submit your request.
If you cannot access your account, email [email protected] with the subject "Yara account deletion request". Please include the email address registered to your Yara account so we can verify and process the request.
2. What data is deleted
After a verified deletion request is processed, Yara deletes or de-identifies personal data associated with your app account, including:
- Account profile information such as name, email address, username, and account preferences.
- Saved recipient records, linked bank account details, and notification preferences.
- Device tokens, active sessions, authentication tokens, and other app access credentials.
- Identity verification and support materials that are not subject to legal or regulatory retention.
3. What data may be retained
Because Yara provides financial services, some records cannot always be deleted immediately. We may retain limited records where necessary to comply with applicable law, anti-money laundering obligations, tax and accounting rules, payment processing requirements, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, security investigations, legal process, or regulatory reporting.
Retained records may include transaction history, ledger entries, payout and deposit records, account closure records, audit logs, and records related to unresolved balances, chargebacks, refunds, suspected fraud, sanctions screening, or compliance reviews.
Where Yara is not required to retain identifying information, transaction history is retained only in a restricted, de-identified, anonymized, or otherwise minimized form. Retained transaction history is not kept as an active user profile and is used only for the limited compliance, legal, security, accounting, or operational purposes described above.
4. Retention and processing period
Yara may place an account into a pending-deletion state for up to 30 days after a deletion request is submitted. This period helps us verify the request, prevent unauthorized deletion, complete pending transactions, resolve open support issues, and allow account recovery where permitted.
After the pending-deletion period, Yara deletes or de-identifies account data that is not subject to continued retention. Records that must be retained for legal, regulatory, tax, accounting, dispute, security, or fraud-prevention reasons are kept only for the period required or permitted by applicable law and are deleted, anonymized, or further minimized when retention is no longer necessary.
5. Balances, pending transfers, and verification
Before deleting your account, withdraw any remaining wallet balance and allow pending transfers, refunds, deposits, withdrawals, or disputes to complete. Yara may pause or decline deletion where processing the request would prevent us from returning funds, meeting financial record-keeping obligations, investigating suspected misuse, or complying with a lawful request.
Yara may ask for information reasonably necessary to confirm that the deletion request came from the account owner. We use verification information only to process the deletion request and protect account security.
